James Squire Porter Type: Porter ABV: 5.0%

Pours to an opaque reddish brown color, with a dense tan foam. Aroma is rich in coffee and cream, with signs of chocolate malt and light toffee. There’s also an accompanying slight toasted aroma and burnt alcohol.

The medium to light bodied palate combines a creamy mouthfeel with a lightly tingling carbonation. Layers of cream coat the palate, almost in the style of a stout, along with a chalky pasty chocolate flavor. A light coffee taste, and toffee caramel add a fair complexity and depth to this brew. A long lingering and satisfying aftertaste follows, with the dryness of coffee, slight sourness of cream, chocolate and a slight hop tangy bitterness. There’s some toasty smoke also lingering into the aftertaste.

A top rate porter, easy drinking for social sessions, as well as allowing the depth in complexity and finish for more mellow occasions.
